Is there a particular video format I can use for iPhone?

I was considering adding some video to my website but a friend said that I have to use a special format if I want it to run on hand held devices like the iPhone. Does anyone know what type of application I need to use? I want the video to play both on the website as well as through phones, iPhones, handhelds, etc. Thanks.

The iphone is a full internet browser so most standard formats (except flash) will work. Just use: MP4, .WMV, of MPEG and you should be good to go.
